Appetizers (Zakuski)
Russian meals always start with zakuski. Even in the most modest
households there is some simple dish, even if only a herring, to
go with a glass of vodka. Zakuski become more elaborate and lavish
according of to the wealth of each family.

Russian Cured Herring $7.95
Russian herring filet cured with salt and spices served with fried
baby red potatoes. Garnished with olives, marinated roasted beets,
thinly sliced white onions, dill and lemon.

Variety of homemade pickled vegetables, such as barrel pickles,
marinated mixed mushrooms, pickled cabbage, roasted beets in thyme-infused

Entrees
Much of Russian cuisine is designed to keep warm. Visiting a Russian
home on a cold winter day, you will find the kitchen full of the
hot and delicious smells of traditional "warm up" food.
When people of other nations may be bewailing the weather, the Russians
say, "A good eating day", while rubbing their hands, glancing
at the gray sky and steamy windows with satisfactions, they hitch
their chairs up to the table.
Poultry
Tea Smoked Chicken with Salad, Pears and Pecans $18.95
Chicken Filets marinated in pine smoked Russian Caravan Tea, glazed
crunchy Pecans, wine poached Pears and Goat cheese. Served over

Fish
In a country with as many rivers, lakes and seas as Russia, fish
is naturally a substantial part of the diet. The nourishing properties
of fish are well known. Fish diet is believed to stimulate the reproductive
system and increase virility.
